The pottery from La Chamba, Colombia dates back more than 500 years to pre-Columbian times. The artisans, mostly women, still use the traditional production methods: pieces are hand formed rather than turned on a potter’s wheel, only natural materials and processes are used and the products are mostly fired in open air kilns. The products are distinguished by their black silky sheen, the result of lengthy hand burnishing, and the fact that the cookware is microwave proof, can be in direct contact with heat sources (stoves and gas rings), retains heat well and enhances flavor. It is naturally lead free. Approx. dimensions are9 x 7 x 1.25 inches  Photo may not be accurate. Sometimes the handles do not have the holes in them.
